Title: PANG!
Post by: Mopz on March 16, 2013, 08:34:08 AM
I did some speed coding this morning, trying to mimic the game PANG! that I used to play on NES when I was a kid.

Applet: http://www.naalaa.com/applets/pang/pang.html (http://www.naalaa.com/applets/pang/pang.html)

Hey, we've all got to make a shitty game every now and then!

I remember there was a similar game on the AMIGA. A friend of mine and me played it dozens of hours ...

Exactly, that's how I first encountered the game! Before I had an Amiga myself I played Pang with a friend on his Amiga. I then bought the NES version from some obscure company (I don't think the game was actually licensed by Nintendo). The NES version wasn't half as good as the Amiga version. On the Amiga, there were ladders and platforms that you could take advantage of. The NES version wasn't much different from the stuff I posted, but, alright, there were some powerups and nice background graphics.

And here's the official video:

The music is a hard rock cover by Exner of a tune I made and competed with at the party Hype'98 :)
