is bp.org dead or down ::)
Yes, it appears to be down - I hope its not dead :(
I also hope its nothing to do with the drama regarding moderation / deleting accounts / posts that was going on either.
Anyone else have any news / insights regarding what has happened to the site?
Hope its just temporary...

Back up and running :)

Back up and running :)
Down again...for how long this time? ::)
-
Sorry for posting so late. Anyway, I have no clue what's going on with bp.org. Maybe Tom or E.K. didn't pay the bill ... :-\
-
This is bad thing ..when you depend on someone else .
I am sorry because i want to backup all examples on my new site:
http://basicprograming.free-forum.net/index.php
so if something really goes wrong ,everyone is welcome to post
code examples...
(i open bord for that)
but ...still I hope that bp.org will be up & running :)
-
you better shut up...
do you hack the bp.org ? ;D
-
:o
-
Back up and running again :)
-
super lily ;D
-
oups i did it again.... ;D
-
and... ;D
-
Is it dead this time, or just down again ::)
Who runs / pays for the forum anyway?
If it is EVK or Thomas Larsen then I guess it is doomed anyway - they both appear to have lost interest in BASIC programming, although EVK made a brief appearance a couple of months ago - out of curiosity IMHO.

According to E.K, Thomas Larsen is the one pays for bp.org.
I emailed Thomas, but http://tomlarsen.org/ is not responding, so I'm not sure if he'll get the email or not.
Oh well.
-
but http://tomlarsen.org/ is not responding...
Yes, this site is not responding the same way bp.org is, so there are two options: 1) There is a serious problem with a place were the sites are hosted 2) Thomas has decided not to keep this hosting any more.
Guys, let's start a new basicprogramming forum on proboards (the same platform Peter is using for BaCon).

Good idea! Proboards are good, as is this Simple Machines forum...
-
The main advantage is that no one needs to buy a hosting and pay for it. Several people can have admin accounts and when one gets bored or, for some reason, can't visit a forum regularly, others will be there.
-
Why don't you use this forum as a replacement for BP.org ?
All BASIC (http://www.allbasic.info/forum) is also an alternative. All BASIC is targeted towards the advanced BASIC user and may not be for everyone.

proboards...
like codecraft...
i have phpbb on my free web hosting account
-
OK, so how do we get this started?
How about a name - keep it simple and similar to BP.org - how about basicprogrammingforum?
Topics could be similar to BP.org too - how about the following BP.org topics as a starting point?
Community News and Announcements
Site help and feedback
General questions and discussions
Code and examples
Tutorials and articles
About dialect development
Local pub
Other programming languages
-
OK, so how do we get this started?
Remember you are talking about a handful of posters on the old BP.org site. There are more limbo BASIC forums already then I want to think about. Most of the PB.org members that post are already here.
-

Seems really outdated (the main site has a 90s look - http://free-forum.net/home.php ) and dead (last posts on the support forum are from 2014, last announcements from 2013 - http://support.free-forum.net/ ). I mentioned Proboards, because it's alive (http://support.proboards.com/board/44/support-board ) and works well (BaCon forum).

How about basicprogramming? :) Richey, do you want to start this forum?
-
BP.org is working. (for the moment at least)
-
Perhaps Thomas read Ed's email and paid the bill!
If so, thanks to Ed and Thomas!
Well, we still have the option of creating a proboard forum in the future if bp.org does eventually go down permanently
:)
-
proboards is a ordinary crap
and how anyon think to copy content of smf to proboards
::)

::)
1. BP.org was offline (with no contact to its owner).
2. It was my idea to start Proboards forum and I don't care about old content from BP.org.
Anyway... Ben (he he :) ), BP.org is back, so no one is either going to move to Proboards or use your forum. At least until BP.org is gone again...
-
Tomaaz,
I think you would make a good BASIC forum admin. Just create a ProBoards forum, announce it everywhere you can and see how it goes.
John

As long as BP.org is still alive, it doesn't make sense as people won't move to another forum.
-
under people he mean 3 member where one is a MOD
:P :P :P
-
Aurel makes a good point. Why put any effort into a forum where it's an oscillating pissing match between JJ and D? B+ is in limbo and Bestof is a fig. That pretty much covers the active posters on BP.org. ::)
-
well yes i agree ...bestOf..something..something become really horny
(mastrub...) :D ;D ;D ;D
-
Does anyone know who owns the hosting site the BP.org site is running on? Has anyone suggested to the current owner letting someone else take over? This has been the 3rd or 4th instance this year the server been down.
The BP.org site actually personifies the issue with BASIC. No one gives a shit enough beyond their own nose. Reap what you sow and be forever bitter. :-*

Sponsoring Registrar:Tucows Inc. (R11-LROR)
Sponsoring Registrar IANA ID: 69
Registrant Name:Thomas Larsen
Registrant Organization:Thomas Larsen
Registrant Email:email@tomlarsen.org
Unfortunately, tomlarsen.org is also down, so emails to that site bounce.

Thanks Ed!
We could use another BASIC developer on the ALL BASIC forum. Please join us.
Everyone else is welcome as well.
-
Sounds like a repeat of the PowerBASIC nightmare. Author took it with him when he died.
-
Please join us.
John...you wasting your time with such a calls...
he he i even open forum with similar name ... ;D ;D
-
i am going down..down..down... :o
-
At the moment it looks like it's really gone.
-
At the moment it looks like it's really gone.
I think you're right and people are getting tired of no updates, backups or someone to call when it goes down.
You should join the All BASIC forum Tomaaz.
-
yes you should..
-
wait John what is with my account:
-
WAIT...
or you can create account on:
http://basicprograming.free-forum.net/index.php
AND POST WHAT YOU WISH ...
-
OFF....................................................
-
Yes, it is gone but discussions can go on here ... (http://basicprogramming.pulsar2d.org)
-
I wouldn't worry about a few BASIC hobbyists that liked to chat more than code losing their social circle.
JRS
OH so migthy..so Powerful JohnTheCraper ;D

You make me laugh Aurel. Some factory worker with a broken down ancient computer that steals WIFI internet connectivity and can barely understand English pointing a finger at anyone. Do us all a favor and keep your crappy code and noise isolated to your own free forum.
-
