I wanted to try the newest version of MuseScore editor and was a bit surprised that it comes in a portable app format as well. It is a single file with a .AppImage extension. It is 71MB big, but it contains everything MuseScore needs to run (including all required QT libraries). Why this can not be a standard? Why can't we have all apps in this format, so everyone could decide what version they want to download and run? I remember that SeaMonkey and Freewrap have been distributed this way for years, so it is possible (and was for ages).
