What's up in Sweden?

I've read about the riots - didn't know that Sweden was that "diverse".   :o

Any comments/explanations on the situation from a personal perspective?

Well, it all started when the police shot a man to death. The man was a homicidal maniac threatening people with a big knife. He was also an immigrant. This caused a riot among many immigrants living in the suburbs. They burn down police stations, restaurants and day care centers, blow up cars and throw paving stones on policemen, firemen and ambulances. It's been going on for a couple of days now and it's spreading.

The police in Sweden don't have the authority to handle these kind of things. They're not allowed to use water cannons, rubber bullets or anything. So basically there's nothing they can do.  Still, "police brutality" is what the riot is all about. So, it's ... weird, very political.

Wow, a police force restrained from restoring order.

It's too bad, to say the least, that certain political groups create these situations. Not sure that I should say much more on that, although I do hope the violence ends soon.
